I recently read Divergent by Veronica Roth. So, I may be late to the game on this book, seems like everyone has read it!
The book is set in a dystopian version of Chicago, and society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue:
- Candor – the honest
- Abnegation – the selfless
- Dauntless – the brave
- Amity – the peaceful
- Erudite – the intelligent
Every year the sixteen-year-olds choose a faction to call their own for the rest of their lives.
I couldn’t put this book down! I loved the main character Beatrice and the challenges she faced. I think that the storyline was well played out and cannot wait to read the second book!
In my copy there was a playlist Veronica Roth put together that fit the feel of the book, which I love and thought I should share as well. I did make a small change to remove the Evanescence song (because I really don’t like them) and replaced it with a Silversun Pickups Song instead which I found to be more fitting.
